Former Pope Benedict XVI has died.
This is reported by several international news agencies and confirmed by the Vatican.
Pope Emeritus Benedict, born Joseph Ratzinger, died barely ten years after he announced his resignation as head of the Catholic Church. This is the first time since 1417 that the death of a pope is not also the end of a term of office.
Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI died at the age of 95.
The Catholic Church has approx. 50,000 members in Denmark.
