Three men and a woman convicted of ram-raiding a jewellery shop
Three men and a woman have been sentenced for a ram-raid attack against a watch and jewellery shop on Strøget in Copenhagen in January 2022.
Early in the morning of 31 January 2022, a car drove into the entrance to the business, after which the perpetrators disappeared in the same car with watches and jewellery worth more than DKK 5.7 million.
Four people have subsequently been arrested in connection with the case. These are four Romanian citizens aged 37 to 42. They were sentenced to prison for between one and three years.
The three men have been convicted of planning and carrying out the theft, while the woman was convicted of helping them.
A fifth, unidentified perpetrator participated in the ram-raid.
One of the convicts, a 38-year-old man, was also convicted of a similar ram-raid which took place on 23 November 2021 in central Aarhus. Goods worth at least DKK 3.5 million were stolen here.
The 38-year-old man, who was convicted of both ram-raids, was sentenced to three years in prison and deported permanently. He asked for time to think about a possible appeal. The other two men, aged 37 and 42 respectively, were each given two years in prison and were deported permanently. One accepted the verdict, while the other appealed on the spot.
The 41-year-old woman was sentenced to one year in prison and was deported with an entry ban for six years. She accepted the sentence.
The verdict was handed down on Friday at the Copenhagen District Court
