The Queen must have back surgery
Her Majesty Queen Margrethe has been affected by problems with her back for a long period of time, and recently the situation has worsened.
That is why the Queen, after consultation with experts at Rigshospitalet, has decided to undergo a major back operation.
This is stated by the Royal Palace in a statement on Wednesday.
The operation is planned for Wednesday 22 February at Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen, where the Queen will therefore also be hospitalized afterwards. As an extension of this, a longer course of rehabilitation is expected.
This means that a number of official program items in the near future will be postponed, canceled or handled by other members of the royal family, the Royal Palace informs.
