India: Many killed in train accident – Primeminister sends condolences
At least 280 people have died and more than 900 others were injured in a violent train accident in India.
The accident occurred friday at about 07:00 pm local time in the state of Orissa when an express train at least 130 km/h entered the wrong track and hit a passenger train that was stationary. In connection with the collision, at least 22 wagons were derailed and several wagons ended up in a parallel track where a high-speed train was derailed.
Danish Prime Minister sends condolences
Following the accident, the Danish Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, sent her condolences. On Twitter, she writes:
-“The deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims of the tragic train accident in Balasore, India. Denmark stands with India and the people of India in this difficult time. We hope for a speedy recovery for those who were injured.”
