Man Convicted for Sending Children on Reeducation Trip to Morocco and Committing Abuse
A 45-year-old man has been convicted of sending his children on a reeducation trip to Morocco. The man was also convicted of sexual abuse, psychological violence, and abuse committed abroad and in Ishøj.
The man was charged with years of abuse of four of his children aged between 10 and 17. At the same time, he was also charged with sexually abusing two of his daughters. According to the prosecution, this occurred during a nearly four-year reeducation trip to Morocco.
The man was convicted of these offenses, as well as for psychological violence against the children and repeated violence against his spouse.
The case came to the attention of the Copenhagen West Police in April 2022 when the children, along with a family member, contacted the authorities.
On Thursday, the 45-year-old man was sentenced to a total of three years in prison by the Glostrup court.
“There are relatively few convictions regarding reeducation trips, so this verdict will likely set a precedent,” said prosecutor Helena Bengtsen.
The convicted individual took time to consider the possibility of appealing the verdict.
