28-year-old gang member charged with murder in Pusher Street
The police have arrested a 28-year-old man and charged him with the murder and attempted murders in Pusher Street at Christiania last Saturday.
The arrest took place on Thursday morning after extensive investigation.
-“We have put a lot of effort into the investigation of the ruthless shooting that took place last Saturday. The extensive work has led us to the 28-year-old, whom we suspect of shooting and killing the 30-year-old and attempting to kill four others,” says Deputy Police Inspector Knud Hvass, who heads the Department of Organized Crime.
The arrested individual is a gang member and belongs to one of the groups currently in conflict with another group. He was arrested yesterday in the prison Vestre Fængsel, where he was in custody after being presented and charged on Tuesday with violating a restraining order.
The 28-year-old man will appear in court on Friday morning at Copenhagen City Court. He will also be charged with a violation of Section 81a of the Penal Code, which means that prison sentences in gang-related cases can be doubled. During Friday’s preliminary hearing, Copenhagen Police will request closed proceedings.
Already, an 18-year-old man is in custody in the case, and Copenhagen Police continue the investigation as they are still looking for additional accomplices.
