44-Year-Old Man Sentenced for Sexual Assault and Indecency with underage Girl Scouts in Rødovre
A 44-year-old man has been convicted of sexual assault and indecency of 10-11 year-old scout girls from Rødovre.
The man was charged with for a longer period, having subjected more girls of 10-11 years of age to rape in other sexual relations than sexual intercourse and indecency. The girls were all part of the same scout group from Rødovre. The sexual assaults were committed in connection with expeditions around Denmark.
The 44-year-old was also charged with possession of child pornographic material, which he admitted.
The case began when one of the girls contacted the police and that she had been sexually assaulted by her former scout leader years ago. In the subsequent investigation, the police were able to uncover that there were several scout girls who had been subjected to various sexual assaults.
On Wednesday, the 44-year-old was sentenced by the Glostrup Court to one year and six months in prison for sexual assault and sexual harassment of three girls. He was also convicted of possession of child pornographic material. The court also ruled that the man must be denied the right to engage with children under the age of 18 in professional or leisure activities.
-“There are several aggravating circumstances in this case. The man had a trusted role and it was his responsibility to take care of the girls, who were only 10-11 years old at the time. He abused the girls’ trust, and that’s what the girls and their families have to live with for the rest of their lives. It required a lot of courage from the girls to tell what had happened, and it was that courage that was very important for the man to be convicted”, says Prosecutor Maiken Ahrenkiel, Western Copenhagen Police.
The 44-year-old man has appealed the verdict to the district court. He remains in custody until the indictment.
