Jakob Ellemann-Jensen is withdrawing from Danish politics
Jakob Ellemann-Jensen resigns from the position of the leader of Venstre and Minister of Economic Affairs, simultaneously bidding farewell to Danish politics.
He announced this at a press conference on Monday morning.
Jakob Ellemann-Jensen returned in August after a six-month sick leave due to stress.
Stephanie Lose will take over as the party leader until a new one is elected at Venstre’s national convention next month.
Troels Lund Poulsen will assume the role of Minister of Economic Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister but will also retain his position as Minister of Defense.
Jakob Ellemann-Jensen will leave his seat in the Folketing (the Danish Parliament) to his alternate.
The Prime Minister’s Office has announced that Jakob Ellemann-Jensen will be received for a farewell audience with the Queen at 1:00 PM.
