In the future, US soldiers can be stationed permanently in Denmark.
This is one of the outcomes of a new defense agreement between the United States and Denmark, which Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen and Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen presented at a press conference on Tuesday.
In addition to soldiers, the USA can also permanently position equipment in Denmark. However, this does not include nuclear weapons.
The placements can take place at the air bases in Karup, Skydstrup, and Aalborg.
The agreement will now be processed in the Folketing (Danish Parliament). Once adopted, it will be valid for a period of ten years and during that time, it will be non-terminable.
Afterward, the agreement can be terminated by either party.
