Recipe: Pebernødder

Pebernødder are a type of Christmas biscuits, and they are very popular. As Christmas approaches, you can find them in all grocery stores, but they are very easy to bake at home and make for a fun activity with children.
This recipe makes approximately 175 peppernuts.
You will need:
- 500 g flour
- 250 g sugar
- 250 g butter
- 1 dl cream
- 1 tsp ginger
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp white pepper
- 1 tsp cardamom
- 1 tsp baking soda
Here’s how you do it:
- Allow the butter to soften.
- Mix the ingredients in a large bowl. Start with the dry ingredients, then add the butter and cream. Stir well and then knead the dough together with your hands. The warmth from your hands will melt the butter and bind the ingredients together.
- Roll the dough into sausages and cut them into pieces of a suitable size with a knife. Roll the pieces into rounds and place them on a baking sheet.
- Bake the peppernuts at 210 degrees Celsius for about 10 minutes.
