The Royal Transition: King Frederik X is Proclaimed From the Balcony of Christiansborg Palace
The Royal House has now announced the program for the succession on January 12, when H.M. The Queen steps down as the Queen of Denmark and passes the throne to H.R.H. The Crown Prince.
In Denmark, there is no tradition of crowning rulers, as is known, for example, in the United Kingdom. Instead, it takes place somewhat more modestly with three official events on the day.
At 2:00 PM, there is a Council of State at Christiansborg Palace.
One hour later, at 3:00 PM, H.M. King Frederik X is proclaimed from the balcony of Christiansborg Palace by Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.
At 5:00 PM, the royal flags will be transferred from Christian IX’s Palace, where Queen Margrethe resides, to Frederik VIII’s Palace, where Denmark’s new King and his family live.
