Surprise Release: New Book about King Frederik X Hits Shelves Just Three Days after Ascension

To the astonishment of all, Politikens Forlag today released a new book about and featuring King Frederik X.

The author and the publishing house successfully kept the project a secret from the public, managing to publish the book just three days after the royal succession.

In the book “Kongeord”, Denmark’s new king shares insights into his chosen motto, or royal words, “Forbundne, forpligtet, for Kongeriget Danmark” (“Connected, Committed, for the Kingdom of Denmark”). These words garnered attention when the newly proclaimed king uttered them during his speech from the balcony at Christiansborg Palace. Many were puzzled by the absence of references to God, and the words quickly became the subject of various interpretations. In the book, King Frederik recounts his own thoughts and considerations behind the chosen words.

Author Jens Andersen is the storyteller, capturing the king’s perspectives on the monarchy, Danish history, Christianity, the realm’s unity, but also on family, his marriage to Queen Mary, and his life journey from a young crown prince to a mature man, family father, and monarch.

The book is currently only available in Danish.
