A 57-year-old German woman has been sentenced to 30 days of suspended prison for theft of a cultural-historical document from the Royal Library reading room.
The verdict was delivered on Friday in the Copenhagen City Court.
The theft occurred in January 2020, and the stolen document pertained to the Danish silent film actress Asta Nielsen. The document is considered irreplaceable and has been returned to the Royal Library.
In addition to the prison sentence, the woman was also fined and given a six-year entry ban.
Asta Nielsen was one of the biggest stars and one of the first sex symbols of silent cinema. She was immensely popular not only at home but also abroad, especially in Germany, where she also starred in several films.
