PostNord Celebrates H.M. the King with a New Joint Stamp for the Kingdom of Denmark
This Sunday, in honor of King Frederik’s birthday, PostNord will simultaneously celebrate the Danish throne change by issuing a brand new stamp.
The stamp can already be ordered on PostNord’s website starting tomorrow, Wednesday, May 22nd.
This is the first issuance featuring the King on a stamp.
“At PostNord, we have a long and proud tradition of honoring new monarchs on stamps, and therefore we are very pleased to now be able to issue a stamp with the King to mark the change of the throne in Denmark,” says Andreas Brethvad, Communications Director at PostNord.
The stamp will be issued in Denmark, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands, in cooperation with the Greenlandic postal service Tusass and the Faroese Posta.
Unlike previous kings, this is not the first time His Majesty has appeared on a stamp. He has been portrayed on stamps as a very young child, on his 18th birthday, at H.M. Queen Margrethe’s jubilee, at the wedding with H.M. Queen Mary, and in connection with a fundraiser for the Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary’s Foundation.
The picture of the King was taken by Steen Evald, with the design by Ella Clausen. In addition to the photograph, the regent’s monogram and the name of the country where the stamp is purchased are also depicted.
The stamp can be used for international mail and can be purchased from selected stamp retailers and on PostNord’s website.
