Woman killed with knife wounds
A 38-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a 67-year-old woman in Sønderborg on Saturday.
The 67-year-old woman was found Saturday morning in Damgade, and the police have been present and cordoned off the area for most of Saturday to secure potential leads, with both police and forensic experts working at the scene. An area around an address on Kastanjeallé was also cordoned off to secure potential leads.
It was already clear early on that the woman had died under circumstances indicating a criminal act.
“The preliminary investigation – including the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death and the preliminary interrogations – has shown that the woman was killed by knife wounds. We are still early in our investigation, and due to the ongoing investigation, we cannot provide further details beyond what we have already stated,” says Deputy Police Inspector Brian Skovrup Christensen.
The woman’s relatives have been informed, according to the police.
Turned himself in
The 38-year-old suspected perpetrator turned himself in and is in police custody.
He is charged with murder and will be presented in a bail hearing on Sunday, where the prosecution will request a closed hearing.
