Albanian Man Sentenced: Involved in Smuggling 578 kg of Cocaine
A 27-year-old Albanian man was sentenced to 15 years in prison in a confession case at the court in Svendborg on Wednesday.
The man admitted in court to being involved in smuggling extensive amounts of cocaine to Denmark as part of a collection team.
The 27-year-old was thus convicted of collaborating with several individuals on August 24th this year to collect and receive 578 kilograms of cocaine to be further distributed to other accomplices.
The collection took place at sea near Langeland Coast, where the 27-year-old, in collaboration with several accomplices, received the cocaine from a boat.
Shortly after the collection of the narcotics, the six individuals were arrested on Langeland in a coordinated operation.
Police believe that those arrested are part of an international criminal network involved in smuggling and trading substantial amounts of cocaine.
In connection with the operation, the police seized such large quantities of cocaine that it is considered one of the largest cocaine seizures in Denmark.
In addition to the 15-year prison sentence, the 27-year-old man was deported from Denmark with a re-entry ban.
He accepted the judgment.
The other five men who were arrested on August 24, 2024, remain in custody.
