Superliga club Brøndby IF has today chosen to end the partnership with head coach Jesper Sørensen with immediate effect.

The club announced this on its website.

Regarding the background for the decision, board member and interim football director Scott McLachlan says:

“When we look back at the results of the autumn season and the team’s development, we have concluded that there is a need for new energy and dynamics in the squad. We have big sporting ambitions at Brøndby IF, and we have to fulfill them – both here and now and in the long run. It’s about balancing short-term goals with building the future of Brøndby IF. We need to evolve, and sometimes it requires changes, even if they are difficult.

Although Jesper Sørensen is now done as head coach at Brøndby, Scott McLachlan has words of praise:

“We would like to thank Jesper for his effort and dedication to the club. Jesper has worked hard and professionally during his two years with us to develop the players and the team. His passion for football and Brøndby IF has been clear, deserving great respect. He has contributed with his professionalism and dedication every day, and we know he has put in many hours and energy to develop the team.

When Brøndby meets AGF in the cup quarterfinal on Sunday, assistant coaches Frederik Birk and Henrik Hansen will temporarily lead the team and the rest of the coaching staff, the club informs.
