Mette Frederiksen has spoken on the phone with Trump
Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen had a phone call with the incoming President of the United States, Donald Trump, on Wednesday.
This was announced by the Prime Minister’s Office in a press release.
During the call, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of enhancing security in the Arctic and expressed that the Kingdom of Denmark is ready to take on an even greater responsibility for this.
In the conversation, the Prime Minister referred to the statements by Naalakkersuisut Chairman Múte B. Egede, affirming that Greenland is not for sale, and argued that it is up to Greenland to decide on independence.
The Prime Minister highlighted that Danish companies contribute to growth and job creation in the USA, and emphasized that the EU and USA share a common interest in strengthening trade relations.
Among other things, the call also covered the war in Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East, and the relationship with China.
The call lasted for 45 minutes. The Prime Minister and the incoming President have agreed to continue the dialogue, as stated by the Prime Minister’s Office.
