Busy meeting activity after phone call with Trump
There has been hectic meeting activity on Thursday following a telephone conversation between Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and the incoming U.S. President, Donald Trump.
On Thursday morning, there was a meeting in the Social Democratic parliamentary group, where members, unusually, handed in their mobile phones before the meeting. Several media outlets, including dr.dk, reported on this. What was discussed in the meeting is still unknown.
Subsequently, around noon, there was a meeting in the Foreign Policy Committee, where the committee members were briefed on the telephone conversation, including the fact that Donald Trump has not withdrawn the threat of punitive tariffs on Danish goods following the Greenland issue.
In the afternoon, a meeting was held at the Prime Minister’s Office with representatives from some of the largest Danish companies, including Carlsberg, Vestas, and organizations such as the Danish Chamber of Commerce and the Confederation of Danish Industry. The meeting included informing about the government’s stance regarding Donald Trump’s threats, including punitive tariffs on Danish companies.
