Greenland’s Prime Minister rejects Trump: “We decide our own future”
Greenland’s new Prime Minister, Jens-Frederik Nielsen from the Demokraatit party, rejects the idea of the USA acquiring Greenland.
He does so in a post on Facebook, where he writes: “We should listen when others talk about us. But we should not be shaken.”
He continues: “President Trump says that the USA ‘gets Greenland’. Let me be clear: the USA will not get it. We do not belong to others. We decide our own future.”
“We should not react with fear. We should respond with calm, dignity, and unity. And it is through these values that we should clearly, decisively, and calmly show the American president that Greenland is ours.”
And he concludes with “That was the case yesterday. That is the case today. And that will also be the case in the future.”
The post comes after US President Donald Trump reiterated on Saturday that the USA should have Greenland in an interview with NBC News, where he also did not reject the possibility that it could happen with the use of the military.
