Police Crack Down on Hash Trade in Christiania; 25 Buyers, 5 Sellers Charged
On Wednesday, 25 buyers and five sellers were charged when the police cracked down on the organized hash trade in Pusherstreet.
The charges took place in the enhanced penalty zone in and around Christiania. The enhanced penalty zone means higher penalties for both sellers and buyers. Buyers will, as a starting point, face imprisonment upon their second offense within the zone, according to Copenhagen Police.
During the operation, five individuals were arrested for selling hash. The five individuals are aged between 21 and 60 years old. Two of them were subsequently remanded in custody after appearing in court. A third individual, a 24-year-old man who was apprehended while entering Christiania with nearly a kilogram of hash for resale, was sentenced to six months’ immediate imprisonment at the court hearing, which he chose to accept.
