Bellahøj Tunnel Set for Repairs

Motorists must arm themselves with patience as the Road Directorate embarks on a major interior renovation of the Frederikssundsvej Tunnel this Friday.

The old tunnel is constructed of concrete of varying quality, leading to water ingress damage on the vertical slot walls, which are not moisture-proofed.

Repairing the entire interior concrete structure in such a large tunnel is an extensive undertaking.

The Road Directorate advises that the work will be carried out behind barriers and will primarily take place during daylight hours.

Traffic Changes

The renovation work will also affect traffic. There will be two narrow lanes through the tunnel during the day, and at night, the tunnel will occasionally be completely closed from 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM. During these times, motorists will be diverted onto parallel streets.

Additionally, there will be periods where only one lane will be accessible within the tunnel from Saturday evening to Monday morning.

The Road Directorate expects the renovation work to be completed by April 2025.
