Copenhagen Police Suspends Investigation into Nord Stream Bombings
Copenhagen Police now suspends the investigation into the bombings of Nord Stream 1 and 2.
The reason is that there is not sufficient basis to pursue a criminal case in Denmark.
Copenhagen Police, in collaboration with the Danish Security and Intelligence Service (PET), has investigated the bombings that took place in September 2022 outside Danish territorial waters.
It has been a complex and extensive investigation, and along the way, Danish authorities have cooperated with relevant foreign partners.
Based on the investigation, authorities can conclude that there was deliberate sabotage of the gas pipelines. It is also assessed that there is not sufficient basis to pursue a criminal case in Denmark, and therefore Copenhagen Police has decided to suspend the criminal investigation into the bombings.
PET informs that they continue to monitor the evolving threat landscape and, together with other relevant authorities, implement ongoing measures deemed necessary to protect Denmark’s critical infrastructure.
