Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen has decided to send home Chief of Defense Flemming Lentfer.
The coalition behind the defense agreement has today been briefed on the minister’s decision.
“I have lost confidence in the Chief of Defense. Therefore, I have decided that he should no longer lead the Defense. We are facing a historic and necessary strengthening of the Danish defense. This places great demands on our organization and on the military advice to the political level,” says Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen.
Flemming Lentfer has been Chief of Defense since December 2020.
Major General Michael Hyldgaard has assumed the role of acting Chief of Defense. He comes from a position as head of the Special Operations Command.
