Rutte becomes new NATO Secretary General – Frederiksen sends greetings
The NATO member countries have chosen Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte as the new Secretary General of NATO.
Mark Rutte succeeds the Norwegian Jens Stoltenberg, who has been NATO Secretary General since 2014.
Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen sends a greeting to Mark Rutte on the social media platform X:
”Congratulations to my friend and colleague incoming NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. Under your leadership, NATO will remain the world’s strongest military alliance, fit for future challenges. I look forward to continuing our close cooperation.”
Rutte will assume his new position on October 1st.
