Denmark to play for bronze after defeat to Norway
The Danish women’s national handball team will have to settle for playing for bronze after losing the Olympic semi-final to Norway on Thursday.
Norway got off to a strong start and quickly took a 4-1 lead. However, Denmark managed to equalize, and then the two teams were neck and neck for a long time until late in the first half when Norway had figured out the Danish defense. At halftime, Norway was ahead 11-8.
After the break, it was still the Norwegians who dominated the game, and only towards the end did the Danes manage to get a grip and catch up with the opponent. However, it was too little, too late.
Norway won the match 25-21 and is therefore through to the final.
Denmark, on the other hand, will have to settle for playing for bronze. This will take place on Saturday morning, with Sweden as the opponent.
