A major government reshuffle was carried out on Thursday following Wednesday’s announcement of, among other things, the creation of three new ministerial positions.

Sophie Hæstorp Andersen, the Lord Mayor of Copenhagen (S), has been appointed as the Minister for Social Affairs and Housing. She takes over the position from Pernille Rosenkrantz-Theil, who will now run for election to the Copenhagen City Council as the Social Democratic candidate for Lord Mayor.

Marie Bjerre (V) is stepping down as Minister for Digitalization and Minister for Equality, and instead is taking on the new title of Minister for Europe.

The Ministry of Equality will now be overseen by the Minister for the Environment, Magnus Heunicke (S), who will now have both the Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Equality under his purview.

Caroline Stage Olsen, who previously served as a special advisor to Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen, will become the Minister for Digitalization.

The rest of the ministerial positions will remain unchanged from today.
