DMI issues warning

Read Time:58 Second

DMI has issued a category 1 warning ‘severe weather’ on Saturday evening for the entire region of Zealand, Lolland, Falster, and Møn.

Warnings are valid from Monday at 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.

During this period, DMI expects between 30 and 50 mm of rain within the warning period. The rain may be accompanied by local cloudbursts with more than 15 mm in 30 minutes.

Intense low pressure brings rain

A powerful low-pressure system will move towards the Baltic Sea from the south on Monday and further into Sweden. The low-pressure system and the accompanying front zone will bring a lot of moist and warm air with it as it moves across Eastern Europe, and it is expected to bring a significant amount of rain when it reaches Denmark on Monday. In several areas in Zealand, up to 50 mm of rain can fall throughout the day, and the rain may be accompanied by strong thunderstorms.

If the low-pressure system takes a slightly more western route, heavy rain could affect eastern Fyn and Jutland. Therefore, DMI has issued a risk warning for heavy rain for these areas.
