A 22-year-old woman from Roskilde has been sentenced to custody without a minimum term for attempted murder.

The verdict was given on Friday at the Roskilde Court.

The woman was found guilty on Friday of attempting to murder a 46-year-old woman.

The attempted murder took place last September when the 46-year-old woman was out for a walk in a green area near Hyrdehøj and was stabbed from behind by an assailant who then fled the scene.

Police investigation led to the arrest of the now convicted 22-year-old woman the following month.

“The arrest was made, among other things, after extensive review of video footage from cameras in the area. This way, we got an idea of where to direct our suspicion,” said Deputy Police Inspector Lars Krogsgaard.

Prosecutor Line Vetter from the prosecution at the Midt- and Vestsjællands Police, expressed satisfaction with the verdict:

“Above all, I would like to acknowledge the significant investigative work done by the police in this case to identify the suspect. Based on that, I am very pleased with today’s outcome, and that the court found there was sufficient evidence, including witness testimonies, injuries to the victim, and other circumstances, to convict for attempted murder rather than aggravated assault as the defense argued.”

The 22-year-old woman has maintained her innocence throughout the case. She accepted the verdict and is currently being held in custody.
