36-year-old convicted of sexual abuse of animals
A 36-year-old man was found guilty on Tuesday at the Holbæk Court of extensive animal abuse.
The case involved sexually oriented abuse of several different animals, which took place between 2016 and 2020 at an address in Mørkøv, as well as in 2021 in Sindal in North Jutland.
Norwegian police contacted Danish police in the summer of 2020 regarding suspicions against the man, prompting Danish police to initiate an investigation.
At the Holbæk Court, the 36-year-old was found guilty of a series of serious violations of animal welfare laws, which the court decided to punish with one year and six months of imprisonment.
“This is an extremely violent and brutal case, and that is why we have also aimed to seek the maximum penalty allowed by law,” said senior prosecutor Anne-Mette Seerup from the prosecution at Central and West Zealand Police.
The man chose to take time to consider a possible appeal of the judgment.
