Denmarks Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has spoken on the phone with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, where she congratulated him on the election.

In a press release, Mette Frederiksen stated:

“We had a good conversation where we discussed the war in Ukraine, Russia’s aggression, the cooperation between Russia, Iran, and North Korea, and the challenges from China.

I have worked with President Trump before. He has been absolutely right in calling for Europe to take greater responsibility for our own security. We have listened. In Denmark, we now spend 2.4 percent of our GDP on defense and security. This is more than double compared to before President Trump was elected President the first time.

I made it clear to President Trump that Denmark is ready to contribute more.”
