Investigation into the fire at Børsen stopped
Despite extensive fire technical investigations, reviewing surveillance footage, and questioning a large number of witnesses, the police have been unable to determine the cause of the fire that occurred in the historic stock exchange building at Slotsholmen. However, there are no signs that the fire was the result of a criminal act.
The fire at Børsen broke out on April 16, and since then, the Copenhagen Police have conducted a comprehensive investigation into the fire.
The examination of the fire scene was carried out by the National Forensic Center (NKC) in collaboration with the Danish Fire and Security Technical Institute (DBI), which conducted technical investigations at the fire site and the electrical installations.
The Copenhagen Police have reviewed surveillance footage from Børsen and the surrounding buildings and have questioned a large number of witnesses. No one has been charged in the case.
“A very extensive investigation has been conducted, where fire technicians and experts have carried out thorough examinations of the fire site, hours of surveillance footage have been reviewed, and a large number of witnesses have been questioned. All relevant investigative steps have been explored without being able to determine the cause of the fire. However, there is nothing to suggest that the fire arose as a result of a criminal act,” says Deputy Police Inspector Brian Belling.
Therefore, the Copenhagen Police have decided to suspend the investigation.
“Our assessment is that we have explored all relevant investigative possibilities in the case,” says Brian Belling.
