A 61-year-old man from Mors was sentenced on Tuesday to six months in prison for raping a male colleague after a Christmas party.

The assault took place in December 2023 after a Christmas party with colleagues from an institution in Mors.

A 34-year-old man was supposed to stay overnight at a third colleague’s home alongside another colleague, and it was there – at the 61-year-old colleague’s home – that the sexual assault occurred.

The 61-year-old man was found guilty of rape through an act other than intercourse by taking advantage of the fact that the 34-year-old male colleague could not resist because he was intoxicated and asleep. The 61-year-old had removed the colleague’s pants and performed oral sex on him.

The Court in Holstebro sentenced the man to six months of unconditional imprisonment for the assault.

“It can be very challenging to report being raped, especially for a man, but today’s verdict clearly shows that neither men nor women should accept assaults, and I am satisfied that the court has followed the prosecution’s claim and sentenced the accused to a longer, unconditional prison term,” said senior prosecutor Iben Ernst Bøttker, who represented the prosecution at Midt- and Vestjyllands Police in this case.

Throughout the case, the 61-year-old man has denied his guilt and requested a fourteen-day period to consider whether he wants to appeal the sentence.
