City Hall and Christiansborg Castle illuminated in Ukraine’s colors
Today marks the three-year anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and on this occasion, both Copenhagen’s City Hall and the tower of Christiansborg Castle will be illuminated in Ukraine’s national colors: blue and yellow.
“On the third anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, we illuminate Copenhagen’s City Hall in Ukraine’s colors. It feels more relevant than ever in these days to show our sympathy and solidarity with the Ukrainians’ fight for freedom and to stand up for our common hope for peace in Europe,” says Lord Mayor of Copenhagen, Lars Weiss.
Regarding the illumination of the tower at Christiansborg Castle, the Speaker of the Folketing, Søren Gade, states:
“Three years after the invasion, the situation is still serious. Ukraine continues to fight for its freedom, and Denmark continues to stand behind Ukraine. With the light in the tower, we send a clear signal that the entire Folketing supports Ukraine – even today.”
Church service for Ukraine
The Folketing has also initiated a church service for Ukraine at Holmens Kirke on Monday, February 24th at 4:00 PM. The King and Queen of Denmark will be present at the event.
In addition, representatives of the government, the Presidium of the Folketing, the Ukrainian ambassador Andrii Yanevskyi, members of the Folketing, and invited guests who have a special connection to the war in Ukraine will participate. The church service will be broadcast on Folketingets TV channel.
