Greenlanders in demonstration against Trump
“Enough is enough” – that was the message as Greenlanders in the cities of Nuuk, Sisimiut, and Qaanaaq took to the streets on Saturday to protest against the President of the United States, Donald Trump.
This was reported by Sermitsiaq.ag.
In Nuuk, the demonstrators marched from Amisut to the U.S. Consulate.
Several protesters carried the Greenlandic flag, Erfalasorput, to the demonstration, while others brought signs.
On Friday, the leaders of the five parties elected to the Inatsisartut issued a joint statement after Donald Trump once again expressed interest in controlling Greenland. On Thursday, during a press conference with the Secretary-General of NATO, he stated that he “believes it will happen” when asked about the U.S. annexing Greenland. In the joint statement, the five party leaders called Trump’s behavior “unacceptable.”
